“Inkigayo” Bans Audience Cheering Due To Resurgence Of COVID-19 : Entertainment Daily

SBS’s “Inkigayo” has banned audience cheering due to a resurgence of COVID-19 in South Korea.

On August 5, the music show announced on its official website that due to recent changes in COVID-19 safety regulations, members of the live studio audience would no longer be permitted to shout or cheer out loud during filming.

After over two years of filming without a live audience due to COVID-19, “Inkigayo” reinstated studio audiences on May 15 of this year.

The music show’s full statement is as follows:

Hello. This is the “Inkigayo” team.

In accordance with changes in the guidelines for [COVID-19] prevention, we are informing you that it is no longer permitted to shout out loud during pre-recording or filming of the live broadcast for “Inkigayo.”

The decision to ban cheering out loud was made after a long debate, for the safety of both the artists and the audience on set, so we ask for your understanding. We hope that you will express your feelings through passionate applause instead of cheering.

For an enjoyable viewing experience and for the sake of everyone’s safety, we ask that you familiarize yourself with this notice.
